History of Kia Cars & Parts

迪拜华人网Kia is a South Korean automobile manufacturer that was established in 1944. It has its headquarters in Seoul. The company was founded as a manufacturer of steel-tubing and hand-made bicycle parts. In 1952, the company began manufacturing complete bicycles. In 1975, Kia manufactured its first automobile, the Brisa. Kia entered into a partnership with Ford in 1986. Under the new partnership, the brand released the Fiesta, a subcompact car. The Concord, which is a four-door sedan, was rolled out in 1987.

In 1992, Kia Motors America was established and the Sephia became the first Kia model to be exported to the United States. The Sportage, the brand's first SUV, was launched in 1993. Owing to the Asian financial crisis, Kia declared bankruptcy in 1997.

The brand was bought by the Hyundai Motor Company in 1998. In 1999, the Rondo, a subcompact MPV was rolled off the assembly lines. The Rio, a subcompact car, was rolled out in 2000. The same year also saw the release of the Optima, a mid-size four-door sedan. The Borrego, a mid-size SUV named after the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California, was released in 2008. Some of the other popular models of the brand include the Forte, Sorento, Sportage and Soul.
